One simple interior frame may have a paint price below €100. Yet a painter may have a minimum charge. The total can be €150 to €300 after travel, setup and cleanup.

The lower end assumes sound paint. A frame with many parts or peeling layers costs more.

Three sound interior frames may cost €300 to €700. A single colour and easy access help control the price.

Ask if the room side only is included. Curtains, blinds and hardware may need to be removed first.

Three exterior frames on the ground floor may cost €600 to €900. This can include normal sanding, primer where needed and finish paint.

Rot, many small panes or hard access can raise the total. A quote should show the extra labour.

DIY can suit one safe wooden frame with sound paint. A homeowner still needs cleaner, filler and sandpaper. Tape, primer, brushes and finish paint also add to the home improvement budget. Safe access is essential.

Book a professional when there is rot, failed paint or work at height. A professional can also help with uPVC, aluminium or a larger project.

The quote should name the paint system or an equal quality level. Ask for the colour, sheen and number of coats. It should say who buys the paint and materials.

Exterior products must suit outdoor use. uPVC and metal need a matching primer. The wrong product can lead to poor adhesion.

The painter should mask the glass and protect seals. Paint must not block drains, hinges or opening parts. Ask how moving sections will be handled.

Spraying needs more masking than a brush or small roller. Check if walls, glass and nearby items are covered in the spray price.

One frame may need only a few work hours. Drying time can spread the job across more than one visit. Several frames can take one or more days.

Inspect the paintwork after it has dried. Check coverage, edges and opening parts. Any aftercare should follow the provider's written terms.

The Dutch Tax Administration states that 9% VAT can apply to painting a home that is more than two years old. This can include paint, prep and pre-treatment. Lacquering and varnishing can also fall under the painting rate.

The 9% rule does not cover every task near a frame. The official list places replacement timber parts, new sills, new windows, frame replacement, glazing and structural sealant under 21% VAT.
