PVC floor installation: click or glue-down?
Click PVC uses connected planks; glue-down PVC is bonded to a suitable base. Preparation, underlay and handover requirements differ. State the actual product, laying pattern and whether you already own the PVC when describing the job.
Photographs of the existing floor and room-by-room dimensions help define the request. Have suitability assessed on site before agreeing a complete installation package.
The substrate and levelling
Have flatness, moisture, adhesion and stability assessed. For glue-down PVC, preparation must suit the selected adhesive and flooring. Different bases may need different primers or thicknesses. Timber or old tiles require their own assessment.
For click PVC, the product specifies whether underlay is needed or permitted. Do not automatically add another layer to a product with an attached backing.
Sound, underfloor heating and floor height
Check apartment acoustic requirements with the owners’ association or landlord. Ask how the proposed floor and backing meet them. With underfloor heating, both the flooring and heating instructions matter; a universal temperature promise is not sufficient.
Discuss height at doors, skirting and transitions to other rooms. Another layer or flooring system can change these details.
PVC fitting price and quotation
Ask for separate items for the PVC product, cutting allowance, removal, primer, levelling, adhesive or underlay, fitting and finishing. Check VAT, minimum charges, delivery and any work that can only be priced after inspection. Do not count underlay twice if a package already includes it.

Handover and existing defects
Agree when the floor can be walked on and when furniture can return. Follow the product and adhesive instructions rather than one general drying time. Keep the material records and report visible defects to the installer.

Can PVC go over an existing floor?

Is underlay included with click PVC?
It depends on the product and offer. An attached backing, separate underlay and fitting package are different things. Specify supply and fitting.
When can furniture go back?
